Major Autoship System Supplied to Leading Fisheries Research Institute
Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) of Vancouver, Canada is pleased to announce a major sale of its marine CAD/CAM software to The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) located in Cochin, India. Because of an expansion of their design team, this is the 2nd order by CIFT for ASC software.
The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) is the only technology Institute in India to focus on strategic and applied research in the development of designs for fuel efficient fishing vessels, plus many other aspects of the industry, including research on the sustainable fisheries catch.
The software, Autoship Pro (hull design), Autopower (resistance & power prediction) and Autohydro Pro (hydrostatics & stability) will be used by CIFT’s team of naval architects to produce fishing boat designs that are optimally engineered to meet the unique conditions of Indian inland and offshore fisheries. Their designs will be shared with local Indian boatbuilders working in FRP (fibre reinforced plastic) production methods.
Profitability is the major issue in fishing, particularly in the small-scale sector, and fuel accounts for about 70% of the operational cost. Consequently, the powering resistance of the fishing vessel is a critical factor in cost efficiency. Using ASC’s CAD/CAM software, a narrower, more stable boat for CIFT was achieved which resulted in a 17% savings in fuel.
The Autoship System is an integrated CAD/CAM suite that allows for the development of a full design package, from hull lines developed to NC cut files. It is the most cost-effective marine design package on the market, used widely through-out the industry by small boatbuilders, naval architect offices and large international shipyards.
